Back when my youngest 3 were just teeny tiny we had a ceramic plate made with each of their hand prints molded into the plate. I have cherished this plate and have it proudly displayed for the last 6 years. When I got the chance to review another hand print plate from Memories In Clay I immediately said yes! We’ve added Ry and Dot since our first ones were made so I was very excited to have the younger 2 made.
After speaking with Jessica, the momma behind Memories In Clay, I decided on getting the 3D Clay Handprint Sibling Plaque. I figured this would be perfect for my younger 2’s handprints. She very quickly sent out the molding kits, which included everything I needed to make the kids prints right here at home.
I read the instructions thoroughly because I did not want to mess up the process but it was pretty quick and I was VERY happy to find out that if you mess up on the handprint you can easily begin again to fix it. First you kneed the clay dough to get it all mixed together and uniform.
Then you roll out the clay dough so its thick enough to leave a nice impression but still have enough room for your child’s hand to fit on the dough with a bit of space around it. Next you wipe your child’s hand down with the baby oil pad (included) then simply press your child’s hand in the mold until it makes a beautiful impression! If you do not like the way it turns out you can roll it back up kneed it for a bit then re-roll and imprint again.
Once your print(s) are to your liking you just mail the molds back to Jessica, in a prepaid envelope, and she finishes the process making you a beautiful plaque!
She sent me this sneak peak to show what the plaque looked like before it was completely dry and fired.
This finished product is absolutely beautiful!
The process was so easy to do and now we have a beautiful masterpiece (in my opinion) that will last me a lifetime!
The 3D Clay Handprint Sibling Plaque can be purchased at Memories In Clay for $60
