Wow it has been quite some time since I have posted and if you do not follow me on facebook, twitter or instagram then you probably have no idea that I had Baby6!
It all started on Sunday August 18, at 1 am I started bleeding pretty heavily and went in to the hospital. Since I had just turned 37 weeks and was having pretty regular contractions, no one really knew what my Dr. would do so they called the on call and he had them get me prepped for a C-section. After they started the IV and drew my blood my Dr. finally called in and told them to check my urine, see she has this strange thing where she blames everything on a UTI, according to her I had had a UTI for 8 weeks. So they have me go in a cup and it comes back that there is blood in my urine, um well ya I’m bleeding which is why I’m here to begin with! So she tells them I have a kidney infection and to give me antibiotics and send me home. I knew I didn’t have a kidney infection.
I knew something was wrong. I had a gut feeling that I needed to see someone else and my sister had an appointment with her OB-GYN the next day so she casually brought me up and he said that it all didn’t sound right and for me to come in to get checked out. I called and the soonest they could get me in was Wednesday so I made the appointment and asked my sister to go in with me so she could help me remember everything that had been happening. Wednesday came and we had my niece watch my kids so we could actually sit down and talk with the Dr. he said he would feel better if I went over to the hospital to get monitored, have blood taken to check for pre-eclampsia and to do an ultrasound to make sure my placenta was okay and check baby’s growth.
By the time we got in for the ultrasound hours had passed and my family were getting off work. The ultrasound tech said my placenta was not anywhere near my incision but she couldn’t see much besides that, she also had a really hard time getting measurements but it looked like baby was measuring right on time and they estimated weight at 6lbs 12 oz….then she asked if I was leaking fluid. I told her I didn’t think so but I had been bleeding and asked if fluid was low. She said well it’s showing fluid index is a 4 but I think it’s lower than that. She printed out her findings and had me take them back to my nurse. My dr. walked in and said fluid is way too low and baby was coming NOW!
Oh crap! I am not ready for this. My house is a mess! I don’t have my camera or my bags. Daddy isn’t here! OMG! I frantically started calling my family telling them to come NOW! Thankfully my new OB let us wait until daddy could come and we headed back to the OR.
In the OR the anesthetist prepped me for the spinal then attempted to numb me not 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 times but FIVE times! My back still has a giant bruise on it from him missing. Finally I was numb and they brought daddy in, he looked so nervous! They also opened the window for my family to watch them cut me open and rip the life growing inside me out.
Shortly there after I feel the tugging and pulling and then hear the cries, my baby is finally here and I start to cry. I can’t help but wonder do I have a son or daughter?
I hate when people do this but baby is awake so stay tuned for part 2!
